Lempert charts nature’s visual dimension in photographs of flora and fauna that show the optical patterns, forms, structures and even habits of both animals and plants as they interact with humans and civilization.
Chris Sharp speaks of the “anthropocentric dilemma” to which Lempert in his photographs lends expression. His images rest on analogies and abstractions and reveal how humans take their cues from the language of nature, as well as addressing the fundamentals for life that we humans, plants and animals share.
The exhibition was a result of our collaboration with the curator Christiane Meyer-Stoll, whose show Parliament of Plants at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein in Vaduz (6 September 2020 to 17 January 2021, www.kunstmuseum.li) featured some new works by Lempert.
